The National Association of Counties has a useful "Find a County" lookup tool, which you can access at: http://www.naco.org/Counties/Pages/FindACounty.aspx.

Click on your state, and then on the link for "Places/Cities," and then click on the starting letter of your city and scroll through the resulting list to find the county associated with it.
